Stunning Shenington Senior Max 1-2-3 from Protrain Racing.
Following on from success at Genk the Protrain team had much to celebrate after the Shenington April meeting.
Senior Rotax Max drivers Charlie Eastwood, Jack Hawksworth and Jack Saffery dominated all of the heats with either one of them looking likely to take victory. In the end it was Charlie who took the lead and despite losing it briefly to Jack Hawksworth he snatched it back in a nail biting last lap. Closing down on them rapidly was Jack Saffery who produced a brilliant drive and completed the all Protrain podium. James Beauchamp delivered a very solid performance with some of his best lap times in his FK. With first and second places going to Formula K kart drivers the performance of this flexible and dominant Kart continues to impress.

Jack Hawksworth rejoined the team on a rare weekend back home from the USA where he is competing in single seater Star Mazda series. The Formula K suited Jack and immediately he was on the pace reinforcing the trust the team has placed in the quality of this incredible 'drivers kart'. The team wishes Jack every success back in America.
In Junior Rotax Max Aitken did not achieve the result he deserved; after suffering an early race incident placing him last he drove an amazing comeback with impressive speed and driving to finish 8th in a very competitive field. This was disappointing for Max but he was impressive in his Formula K and secured the fastest lap of 42.79s.
Mini Max driver Alex Stott shone once again as a driver with great skill and talent. Despite losing a heat following an unavoidable incident in which he suffered a bent chassis he led for the majority of the final and crossed the line just 0.07s behind the eventual winner. Alex has shown himself to be one to watch and his transfer from the front of Cadet to the front of Mini Max is testimony to his talent.

Cadet Joe Turney delivered very assured performances in all three heats with retirement robbing him of a highly likely podium. Joe is also showing great speed and talent and success is surely very close.
Drivers Georgie Chapman and first time Shenington driver William Creighton delivered very solid performances. Omar Ismail was involved in an early nasty accident which he did well to recover from.
Ed Brand completed the driver turn out but acting on medical advice could not drive due to a rib injury so instead turned his attention to coaching and supporting some of the younger drivers which gave them great confidence and shows real team commitment. No doubt Ed would have liked to have joined in the Senior Max thriller.
The talk of the weekend was the absolute dominance of the Protrain Senior Drivers who showed class and driving style to be watched, enjoyed and admired.
Team manager Gary Chapman said "The boys delivered a superb performance, the karts were brilliant and the driving was at an incredibly high standard. Charlie delivered a fantastic win with a truly accomplished drive. Jack H had never been in an FK before; that he was immediately on the pace shows the incredible talent of the driver and the capacity of this brilliant kart. To take 1-2-3 in Rotax Max with such other strong competition is fantastic for the whole team”
The Protrain team moves on to Whilton Mill where Ed Brand took the lap record last month with a great team atmosphere and high hopes.
