Protrain Racing made the trip for Round 2 of the Winter Championship held at Genk, Belgium where preperations for the Euromax Championship began for Alessandro Latif. After Competing in the Florida Winter Tour 2 weeks previous and taking podium finishes confidence was high. Alessandro was on the pace from the first lap of practice and a shot at pole for the two finals came to his grasp with an almost perfect lap in the dying minutes of qualifying putting him 2 tenths quicker than anyone.
In final 1 Alessandro stayed ahead of the chasing pack and by the half way stage everything came into place and he started to gain an advantage crossing the line over 2 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
Final 2 was an amazing race to witness with everyone on the grandstand watching. With some incidents at the start Alessandro found himself pushed down to 3rd place with a 3 second gap to the leader. With only 7 laps remaning of the 14 lap race the task of catching the race leader was looking just out of reach but with some very fast times he holmed in. On the last lap he made a very late braking move into turn one, this carried on with both drivers side by side around the next three corners where wheels were touching but Alessandro managed to take the advantage and take the win with fastest lap and another Gillard driver in 2nd with 10 seconds back to the 3rd placed driver showing Gillards dominance!
This gave Alessandro full points for the weekend but due to not taking part in the first round at Kerpen, Germany he could not win the overall Winter Championship. He know heads to Campillos, Spain for the Rotax Winter Cup with fellow team mate Kaan Onder.
Alessandro would like to than Protrain, Gillard Karts and Ogdens for the great equipment.
